Our newest opportunity is for a talented Urban Designer to join our allied practice, InSite, in Lisbon. InSite are urban designers, planners and landscape architects who share a love for the craft of designing the built environment and consist of a diverse studio of designers from around the world.
The Urban Designer will work under the direction of more senior staff and in collaboration with other team members on master planning and urban development projects across all KEO markets and will bring a passion for creativity, storytelling, artistry, and positive energy to our design studio. The ideal candidate will have strong creative and problem-solving skills and an ability to provide meaningful contributions within our fast-paced, creative environment.
To be successful for this role, candidates must demonstrate their experience from a design-oriented background and be passionate about their role in the design and construction of cities.
Responsibilities
We envisage success in this role to include:
1. Positive and sociable personality with a desire for collaboration.
2. Be self-motivated with the ability to work with limited supervision
3. Demonstrating an understanding of the underlying spatial arrangements that give form and character to urban areas via the interrelationship between built and open spaces.
4. Assists in the preparation of conceptual, preliminary and detailed urban designs, site layouts and supporting materials (reports, maps, drawings) for master planning and urban development projects.
5. Coordinates with other disciplines involved in master planning and urban development projects.
6. Assists in the preparation and presentation of plans and reports to clients and regulators.
7. Demonstrating an understanding of the production techniques, procedures, and standards related to urban planning and design projects.
8. Develop a collaborative approach to working with multi-disciplinary teams.
9. Demonstrating a strong commitment to design quality in all generated material
10. Performs other related tasks as directed.
Qualifications
To be successful for this role, you will come from a design-oriented background and demonstrate passion for contributing to urban-scale projects. We envisage that you will bring over 2 years career experience of working on large-scale strategies with a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Urban Planning.

13. Advanced Knowledge of software programs (Rhino, Grasshopper, City Engine, Dynamo) would be highly advantageous.
