Transaction Monitoring Analyst (Investigations)
Tasks
The AML Investigation Analyst shall perform the following tasks:
1. Conduct timely and accurate in-depth investigations into any and all escalated observations of deviant behavior indicative of money laundering or terrorist financing;
2. Assess and escalate investigations resulting in the knowledge or suspicion of potential money laundering/terrorism financing to the relevant MLROs in a prompt and appropriate manner;
3. Provide Authorities with structured and accurate intelligence when requested.
Role and Responsibilities
The AML Investigation Analyst has the following responsibilities:
1. Adhere to set performance expectations (SLAs, quality standards etc.);
2. Actively obtain up-to-date knowledge of client's AML policies, instructions and routines;
3. Actively partake in relevant client provided trainings, as well as seek out and stay updated with official intelligence and papers on typologies and general AML trends;
4. Identify and highlight procedural and/or knowledge gaps and improvement opportunities within the scope of responsibilities and tasks;
5. Engage with relevant stakeholders on matters concerning operational work/issues/opportunities for improvement in a structured, cohesive, and constructive manner;
6. Provide feedback upstream on a continuous basis to ensure relevance and high level of quality in escalated cases.
Preferred Background
For this role, the following experience is preferred:
1. Analyst Position: Minimum 6 months experience (12 months experience desirable) in Transaction Monitoring, SAR narrative drafting or Compliance roles within the financial services industry.
2. Senior Analyst Position: Minimum 12 months experience in Transaction Monitoring, SAR narrative drafting or Compliance roles within the financial services industry.
3. Relevant experience from working within FinTech, Banking, or Financial institutions;
4. Relevant experience with AML regulatory work; Relevant AML certifications: CAMS certifications and ICA certifications.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, the following is required:
1. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant AML and CTF typologies and regulatory obligations;
2. Good knowledge of the Financial Service Industry (e-commerce, BNPL, Retail Banking products and services etc., including how such could potentially be abused for financial crimes);
3. Analytical skills for the efficient collation and processing of large sets of intelligence and data;
4. Critical thinking skills and the ability to think outside the box (”street smart”) - not accept data or intelligence at face value;
5. Strong attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently detect patterns and deviations;
6. Computer and OSINT literacy;
7. Data management, SQL (desirable);
8. JIRA, or equivalent case management system;
9. Google and social media, and other open sources;
10. Time management skills;
11. Excellent communication skills both in written and verbal communication;
12. English proficiency (required);
13. Additional language skills: German, Swedish, Spanish (desirable).
