RESPONSIBILITIES
& MAIN TASKS
• Promote and develop the Process Safety Culture within the region, for instance, by cascading the Group PSM campaigns or delivering specific Process Safety awareness sessions;
• Actively contribute to the deployment of Process Safety training programs and communication campaigns;
• Share best Process Safety practices and develop initiatives to learn from other units’ operations;
• Review or support calculation of loss of primary containment (LOPC) volumes;
• Perform LOPC and Process Safety Observations trend analysis;
• Conduct thorough incident investigations, involving multidisciplinary teams, and share lessons learned across the organization to prevent recurrence;
• Support and/or lead as required Tier 1 and Tier 2 Process Safety Events investigations and follow up to ensure actions items are closed;
• Engage and chair meetings with the PSM community offshore (PSM Champions) on a regular basis;
• Promote a comprehensive understanding of the units Major Accident Hazard (MAH) Scenarios and barriers and support the development/improvement of unit’s BowTies;
• Monitor MAH barriers heath status and advise barrier owners on risk mitigation plans;
• Verify Safety Critical Procedures, Tasks, Human Performance Standards, understanding and encourage ownership of Process Safety Barriers;
• Monitor operational process changes that may affect the validity or content of the Safety Case;
• Support on the revision of the Performance Standards for Safety Critical Elements and associated assurance activities;
• Prepare, facilitate and follow-up of risk assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP or Operational Risk Assessment (ORA);
• Support on Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) and dispersion studies;
• Follow-up process safety lagging and leading indicators and proactively identify and address potential issues. Support unit managers in the reduction of significant deviations;
• Regularly review and analyze performance data to drive continuous improvement in the Process Safety Management system;
• Coordinate and attend as required client HSSE/Process Safety audits (OIA) carried out on board and at the Shore Base;
• Coordinate and attend as required internal ISM/OHSAS18001/ISO14001 audits carried out on board and at the Shore Base;
• Provide support to Regional HSSE Manager and unit HSSE Engineers as required;
• Act as a PSM focal point with some of our clients as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Specific skills / expertise / product:
• Suitable engineering degree for Process Safety, such as Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Industrial, etc., or strong technical/operational experience with relevant Process Safety qualifications;
• In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and best practices;
• Strong analytical skills for LOPC calculations, trend analysis, and risk assessments;
• Experience in facilitating process risk assessments;
• Knowledge in incident Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies;
• Familiarity with Bowtie diagrams and Barrier management;
• Understanding of Safety and Environmental Critical Elements and performance standards;
• Strong skills for data analysis and reporting;
• Upstream Oil&Gas process knowledge;
• Fire and gas system knowledge;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for conducting training sessions, leading meetings, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams;
• Availability to travel offshore as needed;
• Excellent English skills. Portuguese is a plus.
