CALL FOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
The University of Coimbra opens a call for three research fellowships in the framework of the NEXUS project "Agenda Mobilizadora Sines Nexus" (reference: Nº 7113 - 02/C05-i01.01/2022.PC645112083-00000059 - 53), financed by the PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan and by the Next Generation EU European Funds.
Scientific Area: Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Skills/Qualifications/Admission Requirements: Holders of a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar areas and enrolled in a PhD or a non-conferring degree course. Candidates must meet the requirements to enroll in the training offer.
Work Plan/Objectives: Development of research work in the area of structural mechanics and sustainability, including:
- Development of products for specific applications with structural glass;
- Structural testing and validation of glass panels in a pilot facility;
- Investigating the construction conditions of structural glass systems;
- Performing life cycle analysis.
Regime: The fellowship does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labour nature and is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime.
Location: Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Coimbra.
Duration: 6 months (renewable as long as it does not exceed the project end date).
Financial Conditions: The amount of the fellowship is €1259.64, plus social security. Additionally, students enrolled in a PhD course at the University of Coimbra may have their doctoral fee supported up to a maximum of €2,750.00. Personal accident insurance is also provided.
Selection Methods: CV Analysis (60%) and Interview (40%).
Selection Criteria:
- CV Analysis: Absolute merit of the Curriculum Vitae – 50%; Specific knowledge related to the work plan – 30%; Knowledge of foreign languages – 20%;
- Interview: Ability to express oneself – 40%; Motivation and interest – 20%; Analytical thinking and critical reasoning – 40%.

Submission of Applications: Between 26/11/2024 and 10/12/2024.
Additional Information: Evaluation results will be announced within 90 working days after the end of the application submission deadline. Selected candidates must declare in writing their acceptance within a specified period.
