Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced bike mechanic to oversee and host our Self-Guided trips in Portugal, specifically in the Douro Valley. As the main point of contact for guests, you will be responsible for preparing bikes, greeting guests, and providing assistance during their trip.
Key Responsibilities:
* Read and review trip itinerary and reports prior to each trip start.
* Prepare all bikes according to Trek Travel standards before each trip.
* Charge electronic devices such as Di2, lights, and e-bike batteries.
* Ensure RWGPS experience is updated for guests and that they know how to use it.
* Greet guests on Day 1 at the trip hotel and provide orientation of the region and trip days.
* Conduct a safety and RWGPS talk, as well as a bike demo, before the first ride.
* Complete all trip end duties, including a Trip End Report.
Requirements:
* Knowledge of bike mechanics, including removing and replacing tires, adjusting brakes and derailleurs, and properly tightening quick releases.
* Familiarity with carbon fiber bike frames.
* Ability to change handlebar stems and tighten to specified torque.
* First Aid and CPR certifications.
* Clear driving record.
* Proficient driving a standard transmission with a trailer.
* Available in the months of April – October.
Compensation:
* Host gets paid on the first and last day of each trip.
* Host gets paid for each prepped bike.
* Hourly rate paid for emergency situations requiring assistance.
* Gratuities not recommended, but guests can tip at discretion.
