Our Software Business Unit creates and develops innovative high-quality software for trip and train planning as well as mobile ticketing and comprehensive Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solutions.
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team responsible for the development and operations of our critical train planning systems, also known as TPS.live.
About the role:
In this role, you will be responsible for automating and optimizing the software delivery lifecycle, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our train planning applications and infrastructure. You will work closely with our software development, IT operations, and business teams to drive continuous improvement and deliver high-quality, innovative solutions.
Key responsibilities:
1. Support our delivery team in automating the application lifecycle through build, test, stage, and production environments by using DevOps and continuous delivery/deployment best practices.
2. Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment of train planning applications.
3. Manage and optimize the infrastructure (on-premises and cloud) that supports our train planning systems.
4. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to proactively identify and resolve issues.
5. Collaborate with developers to integrate DevOps practices and tooling into the software development lifecycle.
6. Automate provisioning, configuration, and management of development, testing, and production environments.
7. Ensure security, compliance, and reliability of the train planning systems and infrastructure.
8. Analyze performance metrics and find opportunities for optimization and improvement.
9. Document processes, procedures, and best practices to support knowledge sharing and team growth.
10. Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to ensure 24/7 availability of critical systems.
We're looking for someone who has:
1. 2+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
2. Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
3. Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
4. Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
5. Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI.
6. Familiarity with cloud platforms and high availability solutions (e.g., AWS) and their DevOps services.
7. Knowledge of RabbitMQ.
8. Advanced experience with MySQL (version >5.7) for handling high performance and availability requirements.
9. Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana).
10. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and solving skills.
11. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multi-functional teams.
12. Experience in the transportation or logistics industry, particularly with train planning systems and knowledge of railway operations and train planning processes are a plus.
13. Certifications in cloud platforms, DevOps tools, or IT service management are a plus.
