Offer Description The University of Coimbra opens a call for one research fellowship, in the framework of the project CogBooster: Rebooting Psychological Research through Cognitive Neuroscience (Grant Agreement: 101087584), financed by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe Program in the following conditions:
Scientific area: Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Computer Science, or similar areas.
Skills/Qualifications/Admission requirements: Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Computer Science, or a related area and be enrolled in a non-conferring degree course integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution. This course should be related to the type of activity of the grant, namely in the area of Cognitive Neuroscience. Knowledge of working in a research lab (as a student, employee, or volunteer) is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and organizational skills, and knowledge in programming and statistical analysis.
Work plan/Objectives: The grantee will carry out a combination of research and administrative activities that support the implementation of the project. Research activities will include conducting experiments and providing support for the projects of other team members. Research-related duties will include acquiring and analysing brain imaging and behavioural data, creating experimental stimuli, co-writing manuscripts for publication, and disseminating findings at scientific conferences and workshops. The grantee's support duties for other team members' projects will include participant recruitment and data collection. Other administrative duties include the development and maintenance of documentation for lab procedures.
Regime: The attribution of the fellowship does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal labour nature, and the fellowship is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime. The fellowship holder is awarded the Fellowship Statute of the UC, in its current wording, according to the Research Fellowship Holder Statute, and according to the Regulation for Research Fellowships of the Foundation for Science and Technology, both in their current wording.
Location: Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences at the University of Coimbra.
Duration: 12 months.
Renewal: Eventually renewable.
Financial conditions: The amount of the fellowship is €990.98 corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table, plus social security (Seguro Social Voluntário, first level contributions) and personal accidents insurance. The payment will be made by bank transfer. This amount will not be increased during the entire period of the fellowship duration.
Selection criteria:
- Quality of the Curriculum (65%): Proven knowledge of imaging data analysis software (10%); proven programming skills: Matlab, Unix, Python (30%); relevant publications in the project area (10%); the correspondence between the candidate's profile expressed in the letter of motivation and the requirements of the project (50%);
- Evaluation of the motivation letter (35%): On understanding the technical capacity of the candidate at the level of resonance data analysis (40%); on understanding the theoretical capacity of the candidate to the level of knowledge of the central theoretical questions (60%).

Formalization of application: The application must include the Curriculum Vitae of the candidate, motivation letter and references. Declaration on the honor of the candidate(s) with the indication of the fellowship(s) of the typology to which the contest was held and the respective duration(s).
Applicants with academic degrees obtained abroad will be required to present a Certificate of Recognition in accordance with applicable law. This document is mandatory only in the contractualization phase.
Submission of applications: Between 18/11/2024 and 29/11/2024.
Additional information: The evaluation results will be announced within 90 working days after the end of the applications submission deadline, by notifying the applicants via email. After the announcement of the results, candidates are considered automatically notified to, if they wish to do so, comment on the results on a preliminary hearing period within 10 days after that date. After this, the selected candidates will have to declare in writing their acceptance. Unless a justification worthy of consideration is presented, if the declaration is not submitted within the referred period, it is considered that the candidate waives the fellowship. In case of resignation or withdrawal of the selected candidate, the next candidate with the highest evaluation score will be notified immediately.
Once the selection process is completed, the fellowship contract will be drawn up in accordance with the draft contract provided by the FCT.
