Our Shared Service Cente r is looking for a Junior Accountant who studied and graduated in Portugal, this professional will be responsible for the preparation of financial analyses of accounting sub-ledger activity. Manage and oversee assigned portions of the general ledger.
Responsible for preparing month-end reconciliations and reports, ensuring key controls are performed and effectively maintained.
Procurement to Payment (P2P)
1. Process and review invoices, making sure all the fiscal requirements are met.
2. Obtain proper invoice information and clarify any questionable invoice items.
3. Match invoices with Purchase Orders and Goods Receipts.
4. Monitor the process of invoice approval to ensure that invoices are settled.
5. Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements.
6. Be in daily contact with the departments to ensure POs and payment requests are consistent with policy and procedures to ensure accuracy.
7. Oversee high-quality delivery of Accounts Payable, BTE (Business Travel Expenses), VAT Invoice Allocation, and New Business Payment Structure.
General Ledger (GL)
8. Preparation of financial analysis and reports on accounting sub-ledgers for accounts payable.
9. Accounts Payable Sub-ledger reconciliation.
10. Monthly follow-up on unresolved items and escalate when applicable.
11. Enter accounting books throughout the P2P process.
12. Perform short-term cash flow forecasts.
13. o Maintain close communication with the accounting department to ensure proper GAAP allocation.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have/ be:
14. Degree level: Accounting, Economics, or Finance-related.
15. At least 1 or 2 years of professional experience in Portuguese tax and accounting.
16. Previous experience in shared service centers (preferred).
17. Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
18. Previous experience with multiple VAT jurisdictions is a plus
19. International experience will be a plus.
20. Proficiency in MS Excel or other BI tools.
21. Proficient in English (mandatory) and French (preferred).
22. IFS experience (preferred).
