Project Manager Regenerative Farms | Aspiring to regenerate lands whilst creating new opportunities
The Company & Position
Vida Plena is an innovative hospitality group founded in Lisbon in 2018, dedicated to creating authentic, joyful experiences and serving top-quality fresh food. Building on our passion for crafting lasting experiences, we’ve expanded beyond hospitality to embrace Regenerative Farming.
We´re on a mission to produce our own signature spirit in Portugal whilst also contributing to thriving ecosystems. As part of this new venture, we are introducing a drought-resistant plant species new to Portugal, leveraging its many benefits and creating new opportunities in the rural areas of Portugal.
For the realization of this vision we already acquired several prime lands in Alentejo:
* Our first 28-hectare land in Mosqueirão, Grândola, planted and set-up in Q3 2024
* A 103-hectare land in Freixo, Redondo, partly planted and set-up in Q4 2024
* A 15-hectare land in Mosqueirão, Grândola, yet to be set up for regenerative farming in 2025/2026
To support the operations on two of our lands in Mosqueirão we are looking for a full-time Regenerative Farming Operator. Working together and reporting directly to our Farm Manager, Pedro Pacheco, you will play a crucial role in the daily farm operations, implementing regenerative farming practices, and helping to establish new plantations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to join an innovative agricultural project and grow with a mission-driven team contributing to the future of regenerative farming in Portugal.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the overall maintenance and improvement of the plantation, land, and farm infrastructure in Mosqueirão.
* Perform plantation maintenance tasks, including (but not limited to) (re)planting, weeding, watering, pruning, animal prevention, and ensuring the health of the plants.
* Continuously monitor plant growth, soil health, weather and land conditions with the help of technology implementations to document observations and prepare consequent actions.
* Manage and control the drip irrigation system, ensuring efficient water use and effective watering practices.
* Implement integrated pest and disease management strategies, with guidance from the Farm Manager.
* Contribute to building and maintaining relationships with suppliers for material, external services and operations needed on the land.
* Operate farm machinery (e.g., tractor, hand cutter) to perform tasks such as transporting material, soil preparation, sowing, cover crop cutting, weeding.
* Implement regenerative farming practices like cover cropping, mulching, and biofertilizers in collaboration with the team, continuously refining techniques and best practices.
* Support efforts to improve water infiltration, water conservation, and biodiversity on the farm.
* Oversee the integration of rotational grazing of animals, guided by Orgo and the Farm Manager.
* Assist the team in establishing a new plantation on the 15-hectare land, including managing contracted services for infrastructure setup (e.g., fencing, water supply, and electricity).
* Occasionally provide operational support to the Farm Manager on the Redondo property.
Core Requirements
* At least 2 years of experience in farming operations, preferably on larger farms.
* A solid understanding of—or a willingness to develop expertise in—regenerative farming practices.
* Willingness to be very hands-on and comfortable with daily manual farming tasks.
* Available to travel daily to the farms in Mosqueirão, Grândola.
* Able to communicate in Portuguese and English.
* Experience with tractor operations and familiarity with farm equipment and irrigation systems.
* Enthusiastic to become an expert in cultivating exotic, drought-resistant plant species.
If you’re an open-minded, hands-on farming enthusiast with a passion for sustainable practices, excited to work on a forward-thinking and growing agricultural project. We’d love to hear from you!
