About This Role
As a Principal Database Administrator in OutSystems R&D, you’ll be a member of the group of teams responsible for developing the next generation of capabilities of our Platform, in the context of database management.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
1. Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure database solutions mainly delivered using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and methodologies;
2. Manage and optimize databases across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle;
3. Ensure high availability and automate disaster recovery solutions for critical databases, such as database backup and recovery process;
4. Perform and automate database tuning, indexing, and query optimization to improve performance;
5. Collaborate with software developers, architecture, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support and enforce database best practices embedded into our development practices;
6. Collaborate with development teams to integrate database solutions within the existing Architecture to streamline the deployment process to be autonomous;
7. Conduct regular database security assessments and implement necessary measures to safeguard data.
8. Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior DBAs and other team members.
9. Stay current with the latest database technologies and trends to drive continuous improvement.
10. Provide last-line troubleshooting of complex incidents, providing timely support on database-related issues having to be part of on-call rotations.
Desired Skills & Experience:
11. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar;
12. 10+ years of experience in database administration with a focus on PostgreSQL, SQL Server and Oracle;
13. Proven experience as a DBA in managing large-scale, mission-critical database environments;
14. Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies;
15. Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions;
16. Proficiency in database security best practices and compliance requirements;
17. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues;
18. Strong communication and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset;
19. Ability to mentor and provide technical leadership to a team of DBAs.
20. Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, etc);
21. Certification in SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL is a plus;
22. Drive to innovate and bring development best practices into your team;
23. Drive to understand what are the upcoming technologies and frameworks;
24. Good communication skills and fluency in English;
25. Availability be part of an on-call rotation;
26. Coding skills in C# (.Net Core) are a plus, with an emphasis on using these skills for database solutions.
27. Coding skills in Terraform and Go are a plus, particularly for IaC and backend integration.
28. Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana, and CI/CD pipelines;
