THE WORK
Springer Nature has a portfolio of over 3,000 peer-reviewed journals and books across all areas of science. The Content Acquisition programme you’ll be joining is looking at the systems and processes across our imprints, and is working to create a world-class submissions experience for our global audience of academic researchers and editorial staff.
You will be working on Submissions i.e. the process of getting a manuscript from its authors to our editorial staff. It is the connection between researchers and us as they begin their journey as an author. Working across the Springer Nature imprints, you will work closely with editorial and operational staff and the wider CA product, design and development team.
YOUR ROLE

The role of a QA is analyzing all aspects of the development cycle from design discussions to monitoring in production with a view of improving quality. Advising teams on how (and what) to test and coach them to constantly think about the cross-functional requirements from the get-go. Driving the team towards working in smaller batches, releasing more frequently, shortening feedback loops and learning from log analytics and customer feedback. Your interaction and collaboration with different roles and teams are more valued than finding bugs or writing test scripts and documenting test cases and charters.
You will also be a part of a global QA community working across London, Pune, Berlin. We are looking for people who constantly look for things to learn and believe in sharing and helping others grow.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be the Quality strategist: You will be expected to facilitate team discussions to identify the most important quality and functional parameters for the product and come up with a strategy on how we plan to test and measure them.
2. Analyze and improve designs: Strong at understanding how things work under the hood i.e. the technical architecture.
3. Risk-Based Testing: Follow a risk-based testing strategy by taking inputs from various roles and stakeholders of the product.
4. Continuously advocating the test pyramid: Ensure end-to-end tests are minimal and need-based.
5. Shorten our feedback cycles, without compromising on quality: Work with CI/CD to analyze and help improve release times.
6. Be the advocate for testability: Talk to the team about adding logging and traceability to the system.
7. Be the user's eyes and ears: Regularly bring customer focus in your testing.
8. Preventing issues over finding and logging them.
9. Focus on shifting left but don’t forget shift right: Help monitor the product in production.
10. Cross-Functional Requirements: Understand the importance of Security, Performance, and Accessibility.
11. Root Cause Analysis: Advocate for getting the team to do root cause analysis and post mortems of issues regularly.
12. Advocate process improvements: Strong understanding of various methods of SLDC (Lean/Kanban).
13. Help the QA community grow: Be an active member of the QA team.
