This is a Hybrid Porto-based opportunity.
As an Application System Engineer, you will work for our client – a leader in the financial industry, exemplifying innovation, agility, and unwavering commitment to its clients! You will be responsible for developing technical and functional knowledge and handling support for the assigned applications, being proactive towards incident management and identifying effective solutions to recurrent incidents, continuously improving and automating procedures, keeping documentation up to date, and keeping up with the dev team with regular follow-ups.
Your main responsibilities:
1. Effectively manage and solve production incidents.
2. Follow-up and coordinate changes and technical operations (electrical shutdown, servers mode, etc.).
3. Participate in change management (applications and infrastructure), which involves collaborating with different teams such as development, sysadmin, DBA, and networking.
4. Keep documentation up to date: document the components and operations of the applications (architecture, procedures, supervision need).
5. Manage backup data and ensure regular restoring tests.
6. Monitor applications and infrastructure in an effective way, compliant with the established SLA for all business lines.
7. Control load capacity for the applications.
8. Contribute consistently to the continuous automation and improvement of existing procedures.
9. Work closely with the development teams on defining the architecture of new applications, according to the infrastructure.
You’re ideal for the role if you have:
1. Minimum 2 years of experience in similar roles.
2. Good knowledge on both Linux and Windows environments.
3. Experience with BMC/Control-M or other industrial scheduler.
4. Good knowledge of scripting languages (Shell, Python and/or PowerShell).
5. Experience with JBoss, TomCat, Apache or IIS.
6. Experience with databases (Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server and/or MySQL).
7. Experience with Infrastructure back-ups.
8. Experience with monitoring tools (ideally Zabbix or Grafana).
9. Knowledge of LDAP, Firewall, Reverse proxy, Active Directory and Kerberos.
10. Fluency in English: B2.
