CAPITAL FINANCE ASSOCIATE WHAT YOU WILL DO This role will be part of the Operations Finance team. This individual will be on a team responsible for managing the global capital approval process, project prioritization, and financial evaluation. This person will prepare results for Amgen's capital budgeting and reporting, including preparation of reports to Amgen's executives, Board of Directors, and Audit Committee. Will work across all Amgen functions and operating regions to plan and supervise capital spend. This individual will regularly prepare analyses to influence individuals at the highest levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities: Core member of the Investment Lifecycle Management ("ILM") policy and process; ensure that individuals responsible for planning and budgeting capital activities adhere to documented ILM procedures.
Liaison to functional areas that prepare capital project requests, providing subject matter expertise on capital finance and capital accounting inquiries.
Screen proposals to ILM to ensure that proposed projects align with Amgen's investment philosophy and evaluate proposals to ensure sponsors complete appropriate analysis before the Executive review.
Prepare presentations for Board of Director and Audit Committee meetings, including collaborating closely with Corporate Audit and Legal departments to review and approve materials.
Complete the annual budget process, implement quarterly forecasts, and analyze actual financial results relative to the capital plan/forecast monthly. Support the long-term (10-year) capital planning process.
Build and improve processes that are focused on connecting our work-in-place processes to enterprise cash flow.
Effectively communicate and manage time while working with team members and stakeholders across time zones.
The candidate will also support the Engineering function and complete core FP&A responsibilities including the annual budget process, quarterly forecast process, long-range scenario planning process, and analysis of actual financial results relative to the forecast on a monthly basis.
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting.
Experience in a capital budgeting and reporting process.
Certified public accountant or experience working in accounting (with preference for experience in capital project accounting).
Experience in preparing executive-level Problem-solving communication including written and oral presentations.
Problem solving and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to identify and solve vaguely defined problems, and a strong eye for business.
Ability to partner with stakeholders with a customer service attitude.
Ability to take initiative and work within an autonomous environment.
