Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled R&D engineer specialising in Communications Systems and Software Engineering. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in academia or industry and demonstrate the ability to lead initiatives, manage projects, and apply modern Telecommunications technologies alongside AI-driven solutions to develop cutting-edge network systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, conduct, and oversee advanced research projects focused on next-generation mobile networks, edge computing architectures, and intelligent network orchestration systems.
* Develop and implement innovative solutions for network function virtualization (NFV), software-defined networking (SDN), and edge computing platforms, incorporating AI-driven optimization where beneficial.
* Design and evaluate network architectures focusing on performance optimization, scalability, and reliability, utilizing both traditional and AI-enhanced approaches.
* Publish research findings in telecommunications, software engineering, and applied AI journals/conferences.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate research insights into practical applications.
* Lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and achievement of project goals.
* Stay updated with the latest trends in mobile networks (5G/6G), edge computing, network orchestration, and AI applications in telecommunications.
* Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and team members.
Qualifications:
* At least a Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in academia or industry, focusing on mobile networks, edge computing, or related areas.
* Proven track record of successfully leading or contributing to national or international research activities.
* Demonstrated experience with open-source Telecommunications platforms such as OpenSourceMANO (OSM), OpenAirInterface (OAI), or similar network management and orchestration tools.
Skills:
* Proficiency in network orchestration frameworks, virtualization technologies, and programming languages.
* Strong understanding of mobile network architectures, NFV/SDN principles, and edge computing paradigms.
* Understanding of AI/ML applications in telecommunications, including their potential for network optimization, predictive maintenance, and automated management.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills for publishing research findings and presenting to diverse audiences.
* Effective project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
* Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Innovative and critical thinking abilities to address research and technical challenges in modern Telecommunications systems.
