Tridonic Portugal is part of the Zumtobel Group. We are recruiting for an Embedded Developer to work in our group-wide software competence centre for lighting technologies in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. Opened in January 2019, the Software Centre currently employs +60 software engineers and continuous to grow. You will be part of a team on the edge of innovation who takes pride in bringing to the market new innovations and state of the art technology. As an Embedded Developer you will design, develop, test and validate embedded software for lighting control systems.
Your remit will include but not limited to:
1. Design, develop, test, and validate embedded software for lighting control systems.
2. Implement control algorithms and manage software flow to ensure smooth control of lighting systems.
3. Work closely with hardware engineers to develop software that integrates seamlessly with lighting control hardware components.
4. Optimize existing embedded code for improved performance and energy efficiency.
5. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to embedded software in both development and production phases.
6. Develop prototypes to validate design concepts and ensure functional alignment with product requirements.
7. Create comprehensive documentation of embedded code, including in-code comments, external documentation, and user manuals.
8. Implement rigorous testing protocols to ensure embedded software reliability, stability, and functionality.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, frontend developers, and product managers to ensure coherent product development.
10. Ensure that embedded software adheres to relevant safety, quality, and industry standards.
Your profile In order to fulfil your goals, you should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, and:
11. Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming as well as Golang
12. Proven experience as a Wireless Engineer, preferably within a domain related to lighting control or smart home ecosystems, and in developing cloud-based systems. Certifications in wireless technologies, RF engineering, or related fields would be beneficial. Experience with IoT technologies, protocols, and cybersecurity.
13. Proficiency in wired & wireless communication protocols and technologies (e.g., DALI, DMX, KNX, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, BLE).
14. Experience with RF design, analysis, and testing.
15. Understanding of security protocols related to wireless communications.
16. Install, update, and manage software on Linux systems.
17. Experience in Linux system administration, e.g. Yocto.
18. Experience with agile and DevOps methodologies.
19. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
20. Familiar with optimizing software and applications to ensure compatibility and peak performance within Linux environments.
21. Ability to deliver results in a high-pace and customer demanding environment.
22. Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
23. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
24. High result-orienting & performance culture in balance with empathic team spirit.
