We are looking for a Mobile Development Engineer (hybrid role) with expertise in Android development. Able to quickly learn new concepts and join an experienced team in advanced software application for medical devices using state-of-the-art technology. The role will involve prototyping functional mobile applications for proof-of-concepts, also delivering production level code and documentation to support launching of new products.
This position will directly report to the Sr Manager R&D in Coimbra (Portugal).
What will you be doing?Development of rapid proof-of-concept prototyping and feasibility demonstrators for surgical navigation applications on mobile devices (Android)Writing of production-level mobile code following established design patterns and corresponding documentationParticipation in software architectural design meetings and input of specific expertise for design decisions, requirements development and software testingReview of other team members and contractors' deliverablesWhat will you need to be successful?Knowledge in communication protocols and Android front-end libraries, contributing to architectural design choices considering cyber security. Able to autonomously solve problems in its area of expertise and acquire the necessary knowledge when problems fall outside of comfort zone. Able to deliver complete functional software modules with appropriate documentation for medical device grade code.
Education:Preferred Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Competences / Skills:Proficiency in Kotlin must have requirementAndroid SDKFamiliarity with Android front-end libraries.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Strong communication skills and experience in managing external contractors and reviewing technical deliverables.Travel Requirements:You.
