CALL FOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
The University of Coimbra opens a call for two research fellowships, in the framework of the project "CiNTech - Technological Hub for Innovation, Translation and Industrialization of Complex Injectable Drugs" (reference: 7131), financed by the PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan and by the Next Generation EU Funds, following NOTICE N.º 02/C05-i01/2022, Component 5 – Capitalization and Business Innovation - Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation.
Scientific area: Biology, Biochemistry, Cellular Reprogramming or related areas.
Skills/Qualifications/Admission requirements: Holders of a master's degree in biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related fields enrolled in a PhD or non-degree course. Knowledge in one of the following fields is advantageous:
Tumor models in vivo.
Molecular cloning techniques.
Drug discovery using small molecules.
RNA-based therapeutics and in vitro transcription.
Immunological assays including antigen presentation assays.
Bioinformatics and computational approaches.
The recipients must be enrolled in a cycle of studies leading to the attribution of an academic degree or in a course not conferring an academic degree at the time of application.
Work plan/Objectives: The Pereira Lab focuses on cell reprogramming, hematopoiesis, and the development of cell and gene immunotherapeutic strategies. In this project we will:
Harness the unique power of the reprogramming platform for advancing cancer immunotherapy.
Discover new immunotherapeutic technologies based on mRNA, peptides, and small molecules.
Develop novel tumor immunogenic approaches and targets to induce tumor immunity.
During the project, we will establish several syngeneic tumor models to test and characterize the impact of the discovered approaches.
Regime: The attribution of the fellowship does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labor nature, and the fellowship is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime.
Location: UC-Biotech - Cantanhede at the University of Coimbra.
Duration: 12 months, not being able to go beyond the end of the project (31-12-2025).
Renewal: Eventually renewable.
Financial conditions: The amount of the fellowship is €1.259,64 corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table, plus social security and personal accidents insurance.
Selection methods: Curricular Evaluation (70%) + Interview (30%).
Selection criteria: In the curricular evaluation, the following criteria will be considered:
Absolute merit of the curriculum vitae (50%);
Adequacy of the candidate's profile to the work plan to be developed (50%).
In the interview, the following criteria will be considered:
Motivation and interest (50%);
Knowledge and profile appropriate to the functions to be developed (50%).
Formalization of application: The applications must be formalized through sending the following documents:
Certificate(s) of qualifications;
Declaration on the honor of the candidate(s) with the indication of the fellowship(s) of the typology to which the contest was held.
Applicants with academic degrees obtained abroad will be required to present a Certificate of Recognition in accordance with applicable law.
Submission of applications: Between 25/11/2024 and 06/12/2024.
Additional information: The evaluation results will be announced within 90 working days after the end of the applications submission deadline.
