A call is open for applications for 1 (one) Research Initiation Fellowship (BII) under the project C644943391-00000051 - SUSTAINABLE STONE BY PORTUGAL - Valorisation of Natural Stone for a digital, sustainable and qualified future and with the acronym Sustainable Stone (subproject Cloud Platform to Support the Digital Transition in the Supply Chain), with the reference BII_SSBP04/2025, financed by European funds from NextGenerationEU - PRR Incentive, under the following conditions:
Scientific field: Computer science and related areas;
Work plan: The grant(s) proposed in this call have a common line of activities relating to the SUSTAINABLE STONE BY PORTUGAL project, contributing to the objective of supporting, with new products or services, the development of the digital, sustainable and qualified transition of an industry with a major international impact.
Development of a mobile application that will control some of the functions of a Drone. These functions include (but are not limited to) starting, stopping and programming trajectories, with the aim of digitising a block of natural stone and sending this data to a backend using web services that have already been developed:
1. Use of a Drone Software Development Kit (SDK) for integration with the Mobile Application;
2. Using web services to upload digitisations;
Place of work: The work will be carried out at the ESGT/IPSantarém facilities or occasionally at other locations that correspond to the facilities of other partner organisations in the identified project, under the scientific supervision of Professor Filipe Montez Coelho Madeira.
Duration of the fellowship(s): The fellowship will last for 06 months, starting in March 2025, possibly renewable until the end date of the project or until the maximum duration of this type of fellowship (whichever comes first).

Skills/Qualifications
* Previous knowledge in technologies/frameworks/languages used in development for mobile devices such as: Flutter, React Native, Android Studio, Java, Kotlin or Swift.
* Experience in Software development and participation in R&TD (Research and Technological Development) projects and scientific writing.
* Skills in production of technical-scientific reports, ability to research and survey technical requirements, analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Sense of responsibility and ability to organise work.
* Dynamism and ease of interpersonal relations for teamwork.
* Ability to move around the country and work in different technical teams.
* Autonomous use of the English language in written and oral form.
Admission requirements: To be enrolled in a higher vocational technical course, a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, or to have a bachelor's or master's degree and be enrolled in a non-academic degree course that is part of the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.
Applicants who have obtained their degree abroad must have the degree recognised in Portugal, under the terms of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16.

Additional Information
Amount of the monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the fellowship corresponds to 601.12 € according to the table of fellowships awarded by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (available online).
The fellowship holder will be covered by personal accident insurance and, if they are not covered by any social protection scheme, they can ensure that they exercise their right to social security by joining the voluntary social insurance scheme, under the terms of Decree-Law 40/89 of 1 February.
The fellowship is paid monthly.
Eligibility criteria:
Applicable legislation and regulations: The Research Fellowship will be awarded by means of a contract between the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém and the fellow, under the terms of the Research Fellowship Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (FCT) and the Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow (Law no. 40/2004 of 18 August, as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019 of 28 August) available online.
Selection process: The selection process will be carried out on the basis of a CV assessment, a letter of motivation and a selection interview. The following criteria will be taken into account when assessing applications:
1. Academic, professional and research background (50%);
2. Other relevant professional experience (20%);
3. Interview (20%);
4. Motivation letter (10%).
