What will you do as a UX Software Developer?
The UX Software developer is part of the UX/UI team that develops, deploys, and maintains UI components and themes that software developers can use to build their application. Besides this, they are also the lifeline for developers when they need help implementing the provided UI components or themes.
Besides this, the UX developer is also responsible for keeping the HighLight design system up to date and communicating the UI guidelines to the consuming development teams.
Part of this updating is also doing (independent) deployments to our different development environments and fixing possible bugs and breaking changes.
We as a team do this following the agile approach that is used within Vopak.

What do we expect from you as a UX Software Developer?
* Bachelor degree or Master’s degree in IT (or intersection IT-business);
* Experience with Database Programming & Modelling Understanding of solution architecture and design;
* Ability to apply a structured approach for analysis and communication via reports and metrics;
* Agile Development Methodologies;
* Ability to operate in a complex environment with many stakeholders;
* Ability to communicate (written and verbal) with multiple levels of leadership as well as cross-functional business and technical teams;
* Ability to operate in different cultural environments;
* Fluent in English, both verbal and written;
What does your day look like?
As a UX Software Developer, your day involves collaborating closely with UX designers and development teams to build and refine UI components based on user stories. You’ll estimate, plan, and execute development tasks in agile sprints, ensuring the HighLight design system remains up-to-date. Part of your day includes weekly deployments, troubleshooting bugs, and maintaining high code quality through peer reviews. Additionally, as a senior, you’ll coach and guide fellow developers, helping them improve their skills while making key technical decisions to drive the team forward.
Your core responsibilities are:
* Develop UI components (based on the UX designs) and support consuming development teams on how to implement them. These components should fulfill the functional and nonfunctional requirements.
* Estimate effort and time required to develop the user stories. Supports the product owner/scrum master in planning the sprints.
* Incrementally and iteratively develops and tests solutions in close cooperation with the UX designers, the scrum master, the BPE/SME, the project owner, and the other teams.
* Establishes and continuously improves the best practices on agile software development DevOps. This includes the use of software development tools.
* Create the release deployments, including preparation and execution. Monitor deployments to our R&D environments.
* As a senior UX developer, you will stimulate and coach other developers in improving their development skills by exemplary behavior and by training them on the job.
* Performs peer reviews on code developed by other developers. Assesses the conformance to the development process.
* The Senior UX Developer must also take the lead in making technical decisions that the UX/UI team needs to follow. Part of this is attending technical meetings with colleagues of the COE and the tech leads.
