Our newest brand – Grasshopper Adventures – has specialized in cycling and multi-active tours across Asia for the past 20 years, and we are now launching a new product range in Europe, starting with destinations in Portugal (Douro Valley), Spain (Costa Brava), Italy (Sicily), and Croatia (the Dalmatian Coast).
The Role of a Grasshopper Adventures Tour LeaderTour Leaders are responsible for the day-to-day running of tours on the roads, paths, and trails of our wonderful destinations. Responsibilities include:
Leading a cycling group on pre-defined routes in a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable manner.Directing the activities of tour drivers, bike mechanics, and/or assistant tour leaders.Providing in-depth commentary relevant to the destination, route, experiences, and local life.Managing all tour-related paperwork and expenditure, completing relevant accounting and administrative paperwork.Leading group activities and socializing with the group.Interacting with various suppliers and accommodation providers daily.Ensuring group safety and enjoyment, being the first point of contact in case of incidents or crises.Addressing on-route bicycle mechanical issues to keep guests riding where possible.Managing risk during daily activities and adapting to conditions that may affect group safety and enjoyment.This role carries significant responsibility, as you are directly responsible for the successful operation of the tour. Our Tour Leaders are at the heart of our product and personify what we aim to achieve as a business.
Our Tour Leaders:Have in-depth local knowledge of the place where they lead tours and a genuine interest and passion for our destinations.Make safety a priority on a daily basis.Are highly organized with the ability to plan ahead.Possess developed problem-solving skills.Demonstrate a professional attitude and behavior at all times.Have a high level of customer service and great people skills.The Season:We will operate in the cooler, quieter months of the year, offering better riding conditions. Tour Leaders must be available for some or all of the following dates:
PORTUGAL: Apr 20, 2025; May 4, 2025; May 25, 2025; Jun 22, 2025; Jul 6, 2025; Oct 19, 2025.
Please indicate in your application which destination and dates you would be available for a six-day tour.
Interviews will be held in our London offices in early December 2024, and candidates will be required to attend in person. Successful candidates must attend a training tour in early February, likely in Spain. Additionally, candidates for other destinations (not Spain) will need to undertake recce tours scheduled from late February to late March. Contracted tour leaders must be able to undertake these commitments.
