and Responsibilities:
The candidate will join the team in Vila Real and pursue the development of application-oriented, market-driven, and fit-for-purpose solutions for promoting water management and energy transition. Specifically, the candidate will be involved in research activities envisaging the review and establishment of state-of-the-art processes and technologies related to hydrogen production and its contribution to the energy transition, and technologies either for clean hydrogen production, sector coupling, integration with existing assets and grids and their beneficial symbiosis to deliver benefits at a system level. Other activities include developing strategies for valorising by-products of the hydrogen production process, such as oxygen and other potential resources.
Personal Skills and Professional Experience:
- Proven experience in water, wastewater, and/or hydrogen sectors;
- Proven experience in techno-economic analysis;
- Relevant work experience in research departments in industry, applied research institutions, or universities;
- Know-how on membrane technologies and Advanced Oxidation Processes for wastewater treatment (not mandatory but highly valued);
- Previous experience in one of the following industries: Water, Energy, Textile, Pulp and Paper, Food and Beverage (not mandatory but highly valued);
- Ability to work autonomously and within a dynamic team;
- Pro-active attitude, eagerness to learn, and strong work ethic;
- Performs allocated tasks efficiently and complies with safety practices;
- Fluent in written and verbal English; proficiency in Portuguese is an advantage.
Academic Qualifications:
- MSc degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy or similar;
- Scientific publications, communications, and other dissemination activities are not mandatory but highly valued.
