Offer DescriptionIt is made known that a call for the award of 1 (one) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship within the scope of the project with reference LCF/TR/CI22/52660003, entitled: Iron-triggered technologies as a novel targeted therapy for cancer – Ravine, funded by Fundação La Caixa, open under the following conditions:
Scientific Area: Pharmaceutical and Therapeutic Chemistry
Research Grant Duration: The fellowships will have a duration of 3 months renewable, with an expected start date in February 2025, on an exclusivity regime in accordance with the Regulation of Research Grants of the University of Lisbon.
Work Plan: Synthesis and characterization of endoperoxide-based conjugates, activated by reaction with ferrous ion, for the release of anticancer drugs.
Workplace and Scientific Guidance: The work will be carried out in the Medicinal Chemistry laboratory (Building F), on the premises of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, under the supervision of Dr. Rui Ferreira Alves Moreira, Full Professor, FFUL.

Minimum RequirementsHold a PhD degree in Sustainable Chemistry or related areas;Have obtained the PhD degree within the three years prior to the start date of the fellowship;Have conducted the research work leading to the PhD degree at an institution other than the host institution of the fellowship;Not have previously held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship contract with FFUL.Requirements: Experience in Organic Synthesis and preparation of bioactive molecules;Experience in collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry;Motivation to work on ambitious and multidisciplinary projects;Proactive attitude, inclusive mindset and desire to work outside the comfort zone;Proficiency in English (spoken and written).Languages: Portuguese (Good), English (Excellent)
Additional InformationThe monthly maintenance allowance (scholarship) corresponds to 1.801,00€ and will be paid by bank transfer. The amounts set out in the Regulation of Research Grants of the University of Lisbon are allocated and altered in accordance with the annual alteration of maintenance grants made by the FCT, I.P.
In addition to the monthly maintenance stipend, the grant holder will also be awarded with the value correspondent to the payment of the first step of Seguro Social Voluntário (voluntary payment of Social Security), in case he/she chooses to be included in this regime.

No document that should have been submitted in the application phase can be submitted after the deadline set in the opening notice. Selection ProcessEvaluation and rating criteria: Candidate's Merit: Aims to assess compliance with the formal requirements requested in the opening notice, but also to consider the suitability of the scientific area of training and/or specialization, education and professional experience.
Adequacy of the Scientific Training Area (AACF): Candidates will be ranked based on their alignment with the area described in the admission requirements, with a maximum weighting of 30%.
PhD in Sustainable Chemistry or related areas (PhD) – 0 to 20 valuesEducation and Experience (FE): Candidates will be ranked on laboratory experience in Organic Synthesis, with a maximum weighting of 30%.
Experience in synthetic organic chemistry, purification techniques and structural identification to obtain bioactive molecules (EXP) – 0 to 20 valuesSpecific competencies for the proposed work plan (CEPTP): Candidates will be ranked based on their laboratory experience in Organic Synthesis, with a maximum weighting of 40%.
Experience in the design of bioactive molecules in academic and industrial settings (EXPDMBAI) – 0 to 20 valuesFinal classification: The score obtained in the final classification results from the sum of the points obtained in the Candidate's Merit, with an individual form filled out for each candidate for this purpose.

After this notification, and in case there are no claims, the results will become final. In case of claims, and after the allegation is analyzed and accepted or rejected, the results will become final after 10 working days.
After the final decision is made, a complaint/appeal can be filed to the Director of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, Maria Beatriz da Silva Lima, PhD, Full Professor, within 10 working days from the date of notification.
