Join Our PhD Research Project at the University of Porto in Collaboration with Instituto Superior Técnico
Are you ready to drive innovation in the field of biomedical diagnostics? The University of Porto, in collaboration with Instituto Superior Técnico, is excited to invite applications for a fully funded PhD position under the FCT Call, focusing on Medical Device Development for Advanced Nanorheometry.
About the Research Project
Our goal is to develop a novel nanorheometer capable of precisely measuring the viscosity and rheological properties of biofluids such as inner ear endolymph and cerebrospinal fluid—critical for understanding intricate biological processes. These biofluids are often available only in nanoliter to microliter quantities, posing a challenge our innovative technology aims to overcome. The project integrates cutting-edge microrheology methods, microfluidic design, and advanced imaging to enable diagnostics at unprecedented precision.
The envisioned nanorheometer will provide real-time, in-clinic diagnostic insights, transforming how fluid dynamics are analyzed during clinical and surgical procedures.
