ROLE OVERVIEW As a (Mid/Senior) VFX Programmer, you will work closely with our art and engineering teams to implement high-performance visual effects for our games. You will be responsible for the development of VFX systems, shaders, and tools, ensuring they run efficiently on target platforms while maintaining artistic quality. Your work will directly contribute to the immersive experience we create for players.
WHAT YOU WILL DO Collaborate with artists and designers to implement complex VFX systems, from particle effects to shaders, that align with the game's art direction.Develop custom VFX tools and workflows that enhance the pipeline for the art and design teams.Optimize VFX performance, ensuring that effects run efficiently across all target platforms, especially under performance constraints.Work with rendering and engine teams to extend and modify the graphics engine for VFX-specific needs.Implement and optimize GPU-based visual effects using shader languages such as HLSL or GLSL.Develop and maintain systems for real-time dynamic weather, environmental effects, and special visual effects.Collaborate with the game design team to integrate visual effects that enhance gameplay, feedback, and overall user experience.Stay up to date with the latest trends in VFX and real-time graphics technologies.REQUIRED SKILLS Proven experience (3+ years) as a VFX Programmer in the game industry or a similar field.Strong proficiency in C++ and shader programming (HLSL, GLSL).Expertise in VFX creation, including particle systems, materials, and shaders.Experience with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity (Unreal Engine preferred).Solid understanding of 3D mathematics and graphics programming.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization tools.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.DESIRABLE SKILLS: Experience working with procedural content generation (PCG) for VFX.Familiarity with GPU compute shaders for real-time simulations.Experience with VFX tools like Houdini, Niagara, or proprietary tools in Unreal Engine.Understanding of multi-threading and parallel computing techniques for VFX.Why us?
