Offer Description A tender is open for the attribution of 1 Scholarship(s) with Bachelor´s degree within the scope of the R&D DRIVOLUTION project, financed through the PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan and by the Next Generation EU European Funds.
1. SCIENTIFIC AREA

2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates who meet the following requirements may apply for this tender:
- Hold a Bachelor´s degree in Electronic Engineering.
3. DURATION
The scholarship will last for 6 months, starting in December 2024, being eventually renewed for equal periods up to a limit of 12 months.
4. PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY / WORK PLAN
This plan is part of the development of an autonomous aerial vehicle that allows indoor navigation and real-time identification of barcodes in different warehouse slots.
Work Plan:
- Conduct a survey of requirements for the development of a UAV for indoor operations;
- Exploration of Visual Odometry (VO) techniques for indoor localization;
- Implement the navigation algorithms in the ROS Framework;
- Exercise a critical spirit in evaluating the research process and the results obtained;
- Dissemination of results and carrying out scientific publications with the work developed.
5. APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS
Research Fellowship Statute, approved by Law no. 40/2004, of 18 August; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation no. 950/2019.
6. SCIENTIFIC ORIENTATION AND WORKPLACE
The work will be developed at Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, under the scientific guidance of professor André Miguel Pinheiro Dias.
7. METHODS OF SELECTION AND JURY COMPOSITION
The evaluation of candidates will take into account the following parameters and weights: academic background (30%), scientific publications (20%), previous experience for the project (30%) and motivation letter (20%).
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in exploring mobile robotics topics, in particular in software development using the ROS framework, embedded hardware development and the use of aerial robotic platforms.
8. METHOD OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS

- Curriculum Vitae;
- Motivation Letter;
- Proof of enrollment in lecturer or non-lecturer study cycles;
- Certificate of Qualifications / Document proving ownership of the academic degree and diploma.
9. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications are received from November 21st to December 4th.
10. METHOD OF ADVERTISING/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
The results of the evaluation will be announced via email, to the email address indicated in the application process.
11. CLAIM AND APPEAL PROCEDURES
If the result is unfavorable, candidates have a period of 10 working days to express their opinion, if desired, in the hearing of interested parties.
12. SELECTION RESERVE
The ISEP reserves the right to appeal to unselected candidates, in order of ranking, to hire a scholarship holder for the same project if the initially selected candidate withdraws.
