Visit.org is looking for an experienced, responsible, and driven Freelance Event Specialist in Albufeira, Portugal to help us manage the logistics of an upcoming in-person event. The right candidate will be based in Albufeira, Portugal, and have corporate event experience, entrepreneurial spirit, extreme passion for our mission, and the energy and discipline to thrive in a start-up tech environment.

Responsibilities:
1. Join virtual planning meetings ahead of each event with all parties: corporate partner, nonprofit partner, Visit.org event host, and Visit.org event coordinators.
2. Take ownership and responsibility for our in-person events: be on-site to set up, align with the on-site team, tear down, clean site areas, problem-solve, and ensure a high-quality customer experience.
3. Be the Visit.org representative, leader, and problem solver at events.
4. Align roles and responsibilities with the onsite team: event host, nonprofit organization, venue, additional staff, and corporate partner.
5. Manage the check-in process for in-person events, providing a warm and friendly welcome to guests.
6. Problem-solve issues such as missing supplies, late staff, technology challenges, etc.
7. Escalate issues to the Events Team when necessary to keep them informed or help problem-solve.
8. Send consistent updates, photos, and videos to the Events Team throughout the event.
9. Assist in breakdown after the event ends, helping to clean the site and repackage and ship all materials back to the distribution center.
Qualifications:
1. Fluency in English and strong communication skills.
2. Based in Albufeira, Portugal.
3. Schedule flexibility with availability to work on a contract per-event basis, as needed.
4. Experience in complex, large-scale events and smaller executive-level intimate events.
5. Proven experience in executing events at the highest level and continuously raising the bar on content and customer experience.
6. Resourcefulness and the ability to exhibit grace under pressure and be solutions-minded in ambiguous situations.
7. Quick thinker — capable of problem-solving on the fly.
8. Self-starter who is organized and detail-oriented.
9. Passionate about building relationships with customers and providing excellent customer service.
10. Experience with group facilitation and managing group dynamics.
11. Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
12. Willing and eager to travel to various areas of the local region.
13. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, especially in fast-paced situations.
14. Able to wear many hats and take on varied tasks and projects.
15. Comfortable being present and interacting with large crowds.
Physical Demands:
Able to lift, slide, and carry up to 30lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
What we offer:
This is an on-location, in-person, per-event contract role in Albufeira, Portugal. This role is open only to candidates already based in Albufeira, Portugal. No relocation packages are offered at this time.
