BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key responsibilities
1. Manufacturing engineer developing and optimizing large volume production manufacturing solutions for new electrification products.
2. Ensure that manufacturing best practices and lessons learned are implemented into new designs.
3. Lead process standard development, definition, documentation and deployment.
4. Work within Manufacturing Engineering teams: multi-regional Global team and plant team.
5. Lead production Equipment specifications definition and the associated sourcing process.
6. Follow up machine projects with external suppliers, from design to qualification. Bring new Equipment in plant according to specification, time and budget.
7. Lead/Support production plant for problem solving in manufacturing
8. Lead in process documentation release: PFD's, PFMEA's & PCP's
9. Lead new business pursuit by providing guidance and estimates for manufacturing process and cost.
10. Own manufacturing solution from initial business case to production
11. Lead and develop flexible manufacturing systems specifications to meet internal & customer requirements
12. Lead the equipment sourcing process and Machine Specifications
13. Lead manufacturing equipment development in accordance to project timing and business case assumptions
14. Work with Build Technicians on initial customer & validation samples
15. Assist in training of production operators and maintenance personnel on production equipment
16. Focus on quality of products produced in the production systems
17. Work in team environment with Quality and Application Engineers on current production issues and future customer programs.
18. Streamlining the assembly process to reduce bottlenecks, ensuring a smooth transition from assembly to final quality checks at the EOL., including flash and FAZIT processes.
19. Upholding the highest standards of quality by overseeing rigorous inspections and coordinating with the EOL team for final approvals.
20. Implementing continuous training programs to elevate the skill set of our workforce, directly impacting productivity and reducing error rates
21. Acting as the key liaison between the production floor and upper management, ensuring that both strategic objectives and ground-level feedback are effectively communicated
22. Identify safety equipment and provide safety training on production processes.
23. Travel to suppliers to monitor development activities
24. Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards
25. Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
26. Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
27. Respect and comply with environmental policy rules
Education & Experience
1. Master of Sciences in Mechanical, Electronics or Automation Engineering.
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience of Manufacturing Engineering in automotive or mass production environment
3. Ability to develop most effective teams
4. Experiences in leading teams (plus)
5. Analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, Shainin or Six Sigma training a plus)
6. Solid understanding of Engineering financials (Cap-Ex Planning and equipment costing)
7. Experience in high volume manufacturing
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the Organization
9. Multi-site or multi-customer experience highly preferred.
10. Strong organizational, time management, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
11. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbal and written.
12. Analytical, technical, and statistical skills
13. Good problem solving capabilities
14. Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the Organization
15. Results oriented
16. Fluent in Portuguese
17. Availability for international Business travels
