SENIOR FOOTWEAR TECHNICIAN / PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (QUALITY AND TIMINGS)
With a Head Office in Galicia, Spain, from where we manage all our purchasing, but with adjacent offices in London, Portugal, and Paris, Miista is currently looking for a Footwear Technician with extensive experience in quality control, production, and footwear testing.
We are looking for this candidate to join our product team (footwear) based in San Joao da Madeira / O Porto. This position requires travelling once per month to Alicante, Spain, to visit the factories, overseeing mainly testing and fittings and working in collaboration with our Miista local Quality Controller.

Below we describe the tasks and responsibilities for this role, and the requirements to achieve by the candidate:
Main tasks and responsibilities, but not limited to:
1. To manage/control (as key responsibility) the Production Critical Path for footwear and accessories, ensuring that key dates agreed for each of the checkpoints during the supply chain are followed, especially technical checkpoints like materials testing, gluing testing, and fittings – during technical design, pre-production, and production for each of the external factories and suppliers we work with.
2. To offer technical support during the period of design & development for the footwear collections, both in Spain and Portugal.
3. To offer technical support during the period of pre-production for the footwear and accessories collections, both in Spain and Portugal – this includes fitting of samples, following up on patterns and mould corrections with each of the external factories, size sets, gradings checks, and construction checks.
4. Quality control of the materials and different components, while the external factories that produce for Miista receive them.
5. Quality control inside the production line of the factories we manufacture with, ensuring that the different processes are correctly followed in the production line of different suppliers (Cutting, Preparation, Stitching, Lasting, and Finishing).
6. Aleatory technical testing of each of the production batches, especially towards ungluing and durability.
Special requirements this candidate should have:
* Strong interest in a premium product with attention to detail and quality as the main focus.
* Good understanding of the premium market and what is acceptable in terms of quality in this market space.
* Extensive training as a footwear technician, both in pattern cutting and each of the manufacturing processes.
* A minimum of 5 years in a similar position.
* Good technical knowledge of the different components/materials used in the production of footwear and accessories.
* Good knowledge of the laboratory testing processes for footwear and accessories, knowing specifically which lab tests are needed for each design, ensuring always the durability and wearability of each style, making sure our quality claims go below 1% each season.
