This role involves working as part of Ryan’s VAT Consulting team to deliver timely, accurate and practical international VAT advice and assistance to both external and internal clients. Consultants are primarily responsible for the preparation of advice to clients, including supervising work delegated to junior colleagues to ensure that it is delivered on time and in line with clients’ expectations, as well as tasks such as client billing and drafting technical articles for inclusion in the company’s monthly newsletter.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Research and draft technical advice, delegating simpler issues to junior colleagues in the team, according to their level of experience.
2. Review the work of junior colleagues to ensure that it is technically correct and that it meets Ryan’s standards in terms of language and format.
3. Organise workloads and prioritise issues with junior colleagues to ensure that advice is provided on a timely basis and in line with clients’ expectations.
4. Provide regular feedback to junior colleagues in the team in order to assist their development.
5. Participate in calls and meetings with both prospective and existing clients.
6. Maintain close relationships with existing clients in order to gain more work.
7. Liaise with third parties, including tax authorities and suppliers (local partners).
8. Review news articles prepared by junior colleagues to ensure that they are factually correct.
9. Write articles to be published on the company’s website or in external journals etc.
10. Participate in the preparation of marketing initiatives such as webinars.
11. Research changes to legislation and administrative practice.
12. Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times, including by junior members of the team.
13. Assist in the preparation of client fee quotes, and request fee quotes from local partners.
14. Prepare client invoices for review by senior colleagues.
15. Prepare responses to billing queries from clients.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree / Master’s degree in Law, Management or Economics. Fluent in English (spoken and written). Other languages will also be valued in the recruitment process.
Professional experience of at least 3 years in a VAT advisory role, preferably with an international/cross-border focus.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
